This was my first review of a mobile phone device which helped me get a part time job as a freelance content writer in the summer of 2015. Looking back, I realize I could have reworked the sentence structure to engage more readers or just avoided some unnecessary words. But, as they say, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step!
Samsung has infiltrated the global market with its range of smartphone devices for the better part of the decade. However, this year they took it upon themselves to diminish criticism over build quality and set to launch a revolution in smartphone technology. So the question arises whether the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge does justice to its “Next is Now” catchphrase.
The Edge series is bold and comprehensive in every way. It has emerged out as a successful product after the experimental Samsung Galaxy Alpha series. In April 2015, its release gave birth to a new standard in smartphone technology, namely the curved glass on the left and right sides of the 5.1-inch metallic built S6 Edge model. The curves aren’t essential alone but coupled with state of the art construction and vigorously enhanced performance, the S6 Edge provides results like no other. The design overhaul seems to be absolutely worth the premium price, or is it?
Key Features
The Edge Screen
The dual curved display has a sensational appeal to it. The Edge screen is not only popular for its aesthetic appeal but also for its added features namely the Edge-friend’s tab, night mode capability and display-on-demand functionality.
New Camera Features
Samsung has also done exclusive rework with the camera: the Galaxy S6 Edge has a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and a very fast f/1.9 lens. The phone photography experience is truly redefined.
Processor Upgrade
The S6 Edge comes with an octa-core Exynos 7420 1.5GHz CPU chipset. Repeated testing has ensured minimal temperature changes and improved reliability. Gone are the days of Qualcomm technology in Samsung smartphones. A plausible reason for a bit unstable battery life can be explained by the 3 GB DDR4 RAM packed into the S6 Edge.
Additional Subwoofer
The addition of a mid-range and powerful bass speaker makes it clear that Samsung has paid attention to the rising demand for richer sound quality. While there are better alternatives for sound in the market, Samsung has emerged as a strong competitor.
Dual Wireless Charging
With the S6 Edge, Samsung has put an end to an ongoing fight between the consumer and the wall charger. While wireless charging technology is still under development, this is a major breakthrough by Samsung. The charging dock does not require any configuration. The handset is placed on the dock and charging begins. It’s that simple!
S6 vs. S6 Edge
6 > 6 as they’re calling it, the Edge counterpart of the series seems to surpass the other. While there are differences in the hardware and underlying architecture, the sleek design and unparalleled power are common to both handsets.

Final Verdict
